This weekend we took a trip to KC to see family. We found some time to check out a local pig lover spot. First we visited Pigwich the food truck/resturant with delicious sandwiches. They have a choice of 6 sandwiches daily that change constantly. We ordered the bahn mi and house smoked rubin. Both were delicious and flavorful. We ate outside at the picnic tables and enjoyed the train going by along with some local bikers.
Right next door we went to the charcuterie, The Local Pig. In their little shop they sell local sustainable food goods, that are sourced within a 50 mile radius. Whole animals make their way through the production line 2-3 times per week. Everything is made from scratch the right way everytime, truley inspirational. The staff was helpful and informative and our family bought some great meat for homemade meals. They also offer classes and a butcher box including easy meal ideas for the week. We enjoyed our experience and hope you will check them out the next time you are in Kansas City. They may be in a tricky location but the people will come when the food it great!
